The incident occurred at the intersection of Piran and Janner streets in Aldo Bonzi, La Matanza district, when a group of at least five criminals attempted to rob brothers Carlos Matías and Ariel Sebastián Galeano, both members of the National Gendarmerie, as they were about to enter their home. Security cameras captured the moment the criminals arrived in two cars, a Volkswagen Vento and a Ford Focus, to steal the victims' vehicle, a Volkswagen Gol Trend. However, according to the police report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, an armed confrontation began, which resulted in the death of one criminal, identified as 22-year-old Kevin Escobar. It was also reported that Ariel Galeano was shot in the mouth, while his partner, 25-year-old Nazarena Vanina Velázquez, was shot in the abdomen. They were both taken to the Ballestrini Hospital, and the woman is in serious condition. Later, a 24-year-old delivery man, Sergio Alberto Alanis, who was caught in the crossfire and shot in the leg, was admitted to the hospital. He is out of danger. The case is in the hands of the Homicide Department's Thematic UFI, under the direction of Prosecutor Fornaro, who classified the investigation as 'aggravated homicide in attempt, criminis causae' and 'qualified robbery for the use of a weapon and for being committed in a populated place and as a group'.
